Note from the artist:
Tracing a duckweed structure was created during the lockdown, when I was away from
my home land, waiting to be accepted to stay in London - my new home. Facing four walls in my room, I had the urge to be away, letting my mind connect to nature. As a
result, I used the structure of duckweed as the main subject for my drawing. ‘Duckweed' in the drawing serves as a fictional character, who rapidly grows and
conquers the pond as their new home. I form a fabric of duckweed by using colour pencil and "coloured' the duckweed plants
that are chosen to exist, contributing to the structure. This act is similar to a multiple
choice test.
Performing a development of an aquatic creature in nature by mimicking and generalising a complex process, I want to question the immigration system, and the freewill that one should have on their right to decide to be away, and choose their home.
