Cecilia Baldauf-Clark is an Oxford-born painter and printmaker who recently graduated with a BA in Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking from the Glasgow School of Art. Her practice explores nostalgia and memory, seeking to understand why childhood recollections often feel illuminated as if by candlelight. Through drawing and painting,
Cecilia translates intangible feelings into tangible form, working with fragments of the past - objects, photographs, letters, and collected ephemera - that carry invisible layers of sentiment.
Her paintings frequently depict family members in the quiet rhythm of everyday life, set within domestic interiors filled with objects that hold emotional weight. In this way, she examines how memory and material intertwine, and how ordinary items become vessels of care, connection, and history. Of German and French heritage, Cecilia places family rituals and traditions at the heart of her work, creating visual records that both honour and preserve them. Each painting acts as an ode to those who came before her, acknowledging the love and craftsmanship passed down through generations.
Her work invites viewers into spaces of warmth and safety, where intimacy and memory converge - like stepping into a long-forgotten childhood moment.
