Charlotte Miles, a Sheffield-born artist, studied BA Fine Art at Loughborough University and recently graduated with a MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art. Her practice combines sculpture and painting to create three-dimensional, moving works that re-enchant the strangeness of everyday life in an absurdist revolt against mundanity. Her pieces unfold through humorous, fragmented vignettes, leaving meaning intentionally ambiguous and open to interpretation.

Inspired by Albert Camus’s Absurdism and Thomas Nagel’s comedic approach to meaninglessness, Charlotte uses illogical imagery as both a coping mechanism and a lens to question reality. Drawing on Fantasy’s legacy of abstraction, her work juxtaposes historical references with fictional narratives, rendered in a hybrid style of realism and pseudo-cubism. Subtle, recurring movements blur the line between real and unreal, nodding to the Sisyphean cycle of repetition.

Space is integral to her practice, with gaps and pauses creating immersive worlds where absurdity, humour, and imagination thrive.
