Ilona Pataki is a painter, photographer, and printmaker originally from Budapest, now based in London. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from King’s College London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Art & Design from the Royal College of Art. Her practice examines feminism and public space through a philosophical lens, informed by her experience as a woman in skateboarding. For Ilona, skateboarding embodies creativity, and provides a philosophical framework through which urban environments can be reimagined as sites of freedom and play.

Her work spans painting, graffiti, print, and film photography, investigating feminist perspectives on public art, challenging power structures in urban spaces, and documenting how women reclaim these spaces despite inherent risks. Her recent series of paintings, prints, and site-specific interventions explores gendered language, using graffiti-inspired tagging as a mark-making tool to claim space. By bringing street art into the studio and conversely, bringing fine art methodologies into public realms, Ilona highlights the transformative potential of creative expression for communities and society.
